Transportation card

• A RF transportation card is a contactless, payment card utilizing a radio frequency method and is divided into a prepayment card and a deferred payment card based on the payment method.
  A prepayment card can be used by charging a certain amount of money in advance to use and recharging for continuous usewhen the money runs out.
  A deferred payment card is a credit card to which the RF transportation feature is added, thus the public transportation charge is included in the monthly credit card payment.

Single-use transportation ticket

• 

  Select your destination on the single-use transportation ticket dispensing machine and pay the transportation fee and a deposit (500 KRW) to be issued a single-use transportation ticket.

• 

  Touch the single-use transportation ticket on the transportation card (T-money) reader located on the right side of a turnstile.

• 

  You will be refunded the deposit (500 KRW) after you insert the single-use transportation ticket into a deposit refund machine upon exit.

Preferential transportation card

• Semi-permanent transportation card used by free riders of the urban railway in the Greater Seoul Area (senior citizens older than the age of 65, handicapped persons, men and women of national merit)

Commuter ticket

• Purchase a commuter card (price: 2,500 KRW) and charge a desired amount of money for use
• Period of usage: Up to 60 times within 30 days of the date charged
• If 30 days have passed or 60 rides have been taken, it may not be used any longer even if it has not been 30 days or there is remaining number of rides

Types and fares of commuter tickets

• Seoul exclusive commuter ticket may not be used in stations other than the specified sections. If the commute exceeds the specified distance, it is additionally deducted from the remaining number of rides. ※ 1 for each distance for which fares are applied (for Seoul exclusive, 20km in the direction moving towards the outskirts of Seoul from a boundary station).
• Upon return of the ticket, the remaining number of days and rides are applied and the lower price among the calculated prices is returned (however, the number of rides used is applied for defective cards).
• Excluding tickets on which the number of passengers is written, one ticket shall be used by one person.
• When using commuter tickets, no additional fee will be chargedfor traveling any distance farther than level 8 (80,400 KRW) of distance proportional system for Sinbundang Line and for any distance farther than level 1 (55,000 KRW) for Yongin Everline and Uijeongbu U Line.
• Commuter tickets exclusively for Seoul and ones for thedistance proportional system below level 7 may not be used on Sinbundang Line, and Seoul-exclusive commuter tickets may not be used on Everline and U Line. However, it can be used to get off or transfer at 3 private sections and oneadditional ride is deducted in addition to Seoul Metro commuter ticket deduction criteria.
• With a commuter ticket or a single-use ticket, you may not transfer at the following sections.
  • Seoul Station on Line 1, 4 and Airport Railroad ↔ Seoul Station on Gyeongui Jungang Line

Group ticket

• If 20 or more passengers travel the same section and route, the fare for every 20th person is free.

How to calculate fare

• [One-way]
• It is a price that is rounded by multiplying the number of people with a 20% discounted price of an adult fare or 30% and 60% discounted prices of teenagers’ and children’s fares after deducting 350 KRW from an adult fare.
• [Round trip]
• However, if a discounted fare per person is lower than the basic fare of transportation, the price is double thebasic one-way fare, which is rounded.
• Rounding of a fare: If the last two digits of the fare are smaller than 100 KRW, those below 30 KRW are discarded, those between 30 and 70 KRW are fixed at 50 KRW and those greater than 70 KRW are rounded up to 100 KRW.
